New Track Tool for S&M as Season Ends with a Crunch!

Maiden voyage for the R6 at Silverstone GP circuit
The latest acquisition for Team S&M is a 2007 Yamaha R6. The plan is to race this in some rounds of the EMRA Roadstocks championship. Roadstock bikes need to be 'Road Legal' - basically a race bike with a V5, standard footrests, number plate, working brake light and horn! Seems a bit pointless but 'rules-is-rules' and more importantly it keeps out some of the infamous axe murders who run in the Supersport 600 class! Still some very quick riders though - very quick..57s laps of Mallory!!

The Yamaha YZF R6 is a 2007 engine with a 2006 frame and has K-Tech 20mm fork cartridges, full race exhaust but running a standard rear shock. Other than this it's totally stock apart from the body kit. The necessary mods need to be made to make it Roadstocks eligible, plus the V5 (hopefully it's not a nicked bike!).

The plan is to run it alongside the GSX1100 Earlystocker at the same meetings. Having spent a year of endless mechanical problems with the GSX, due lack of knowledge of the old beast primarily, this at least should get some track time in versus spending every meeting in the pits patching up the GSX! Watch this space....

Post Script from Last Race at Mallory
Last round mishap at Mallory Park - first lap of practice, into Edwinas, cold tyres, icy cold track...no grip, into the kitty litter............. How annoying! Couldn't get it running again then for more than 2 laps....as usual!

Happy Xmas
